professor's appearance on TV show.

Essay topics:

professor's appearance on TV show.

Both the reading and lecture are related with the appearance of professor on Television. The reading claims that presence of university professor is beneficial for both the professor him/herself and for the university also by mentioning three main reasons. However, the lecturer opposes the passage’s claim by refuting all the reasons.
First, the article states that the professor’s appearance on TV helps to increase his/her reputation among the scholars. This assists him to get invitation from conference and this also helps him/her to get fund for doing research. The lecturer contends this by saying that for discussing on TV show, it does not require any depth knowledge and it creates negative image among other scholars about the professor, who appears on TV.
Second, the reading claims that the presence of professor on TV increases the reputation of university for which s/he works. This helps the student to get more donations and attract more students to get their admission at the university. But the lecturer opposes this point by saying that the professor needs to waste so much time to be prepared for the show and s/he also spends time for travelling, which the professor have to adjust from his university time. This hampers his lectures in the university.
Finally, the reading argues that common people also benefited by the presence of professor on TV show. The people can talk with the expert directly, which increases their knowledge. However, the lecturer refutes this point by saying that it does not require any depth understanding of any subject to discuss on TV show. Even, a TV reporter can discuss on this issue by doing enough homework.
