Sometimes it is better to be dishonest
It is critically important for all people, to live in harmony, to be honest, and trustful to each other. I disagree with the idea that is better to be dishonest. I will explain in the following essay.
To start with, building family relationships is based on honesty. It is said, that families are the core value of any society. My personal experience is a compelling example of this. When I was in high school, I was doing very poorly in my senior year. I kept hiding the truth from my parents. Every time my dad asked how I was doing at school I had to lie. I said that everything was wonderful and that I was on my way to graduation with honors. All this came down abruptly when the principal of the school contact my family regarding my low grades. I felt so very ashamed of myself. My dad lost confidence in me. It took a long time for us to recover and build the relationship we used to have before this incident.
Moreover, dishonest people are not successful in life. for example, back in the 1980s, in Colombia, there was a huge boom of people making easy money by entering the illegal drug trade. I saw close friends, neighbors, and even distance family members getting rich by means of drug dealing. This money did not last, some got killed, some went to prison, and most of them end up with broken families and left many people suffering. On the contrary, people like me, that decided to study and take a long way, but sure way to success.
By way of conclusion, I am in the opinion that being honest and trustworthy person is the way to go to be a good citizen and a role model to society
