The reading and the lecture are both about a kind of sound which called quackers. The author of the reading believes that the origin of the sound was not clear and there are many assumption about that, however, the lecturer casts doubts on the claim made in the paragraph. He thinks that the theories which states about that sound is not correct.
First of all, the author points out that Orca whales can produce this sound and it is mentioned that they dwell in which submarine patrolling. Nevertheless, this point is challenged by the lecturer. She explains that this kind of whale live near the surface of water while submarine is in dept of ocean. So in condition the sound will not be hear.
Secondly, the author contends that huge squid can create this odd sound and also notes that their body cannot be detected since they do not have skeleton. But the lecturer rebuts this argument and she believes that squid has lived in ocean since 1960 and if this sound was relevant to this marine, this sound would hear now. Since after two decades sound was disappear.
Finally, the author states that many military technology in Russian submarines could lead to quackers. The lecturer, on the other hand, points out that submarines can change their direction quickly. Since the direction of the sound was different.
