Actually, both the passage and lecture discuss about a load strange sound heard by sailors in the North Atlantics and Arctic ocean. Because of a n approximate similarity to frog croaks , they called it ''quackers '', Although the source of sound moved quickly, the submarines ' sonar seemingly couldn't find any visible objects under water. Some hypothesizes have been suggested by them including Ocra whales sound, giant squids and military technology. The passage illustrates three claim expressing the probable reasons of noises; however, the lecturer rejects all theories by some logical reasons.
First, the passage claims female Ocra whales make such a sound to appear males’ attention; therefore, it might be Ocras ' sound. Although researches have acknowledge the similarity of Ocras ' noise and theodd sound, this theory isn't reinforced by lecturer. As she mentioned whales are living near surface of oceans; however, the sound is heard from deep part of seas.
Next, as the passage mentioned a special marine creature which its body is so soft that can't be detected by sonars; however, giant squids are clever enough that it is possible to make such a sound to defend themselves. Albeit the lecturer believes this hypothesis is better candidate , considering the fact that curious sounds have been disappear after two decades she doesn't validate that.
Finally, the passage claims the sound can be counted as a military technology sound that is produced by other countries facilities, on the other hand, the lecturer disagrees with the proposed idea because she thinks military objects can't move that quickly under water; moreover, engines of them absolutely products a hearable noise that sonar can detect them.
