Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific points made in the reading passage. Sending humans to asteroid

The reading and lecture are both about the colonization on asteroids, which some think sending humans to an asteroid maybe is easier than sending to planets. The author of reading believes that there are suitable conditions for living on asteroids. The lecture challenges the statement made by the author. He is of the opinion that these properties are not good for colonization.

First of all, the author suggests that asteroids have a low gravity, so there is no force for pulling the spacecraft to the surface. It is important because landing and takeoff are safer than on the Moon and spacecraft can carry more equipment. This statement is challenged by the lecture. Professor says that low gravity causes people to lose their muscle mass and reduce bone density. Therefore, settling on the asteroid has negative impacts on the health in long-term.

Secondly, the writer contends that asteroids have valuable metals such as gold which they are not found on Earth. The article notes the colonists could extract raw materials and sending them back to earth. The lecture, however, rebuts this by asserting that colonization and transporting are expensive, therefore, this decreases merit of the asteroid to doing this work. Moreover, excavations in large quantities cause minerals to have a low price in markets because there are many of them.

Finally, it is stated in the article that asteroids stay in the site which reaches to them is easy. The author establishes that asteroids be close enough to Earth, so they are the perfect option for inhabitation. The lecture, on the other hand, posits that get to asteroids has no problem, but get back to Earth is difficult. The professor mentions that asteroids can orbit also move away from Earth for a long distance. Consequently, the asteroid not stays close to Earth and we have a challenge for getting back to Earth.
