TPO-03 - Integrated Writing Task Rembrandt is the most famous of the seventeenth-century Dutch painters. However, there are doubts whether some paintings attributed to Rembrandt were actually painted by him. One such painting is known as attributed to Rem

The passage and the lecture mainly talked about if one painting belongs to Rembrandt. The author lists inconsistency of the clothing, light and shadow, and the back of the painting to verify that this painting doesn't belong to Rembrandt. While the professor indicates that these inconistencyinconsistency could be reasonable if considering the later correcting by other people.

To begin with, the woman's cloth is a fault which cannot be made by Rembrandt, such a considerate person to his subjects' clothing. In other words, the cloth has a style that only exist on the servants, but it has a unaffordable collar for servants. This pheminenonphenomenon can be explained by the ex-painting by other people. The reason why he/she do such thing is that he/she hope the piece seems more valuable.

Furtheormore, the above explanation also apt to the error of the light reflected by the collar. This dark fur collar should not reflect light onto the woman's face. However, if we remove the collar, we can find that in fact under this place a light collar exist. So it is natural and reasonable to the lightlifht reflecting on the face.

Besides, painted panel glued by various pieces of wood can also explained by this fact.
The later owner to do so is hoping increase the area so that make the painting more grade and valuable. And one other evidence is, the meterialmaterial of the wood that dreawed the piece is same with the maeterial of one other piece drew by Rembrandt.
