TPO-07 - Integrated Writing Task In an effort to encourage ecologically sustainable forestry practices, an international organization started issuing certifications to wood companies that meet high ecological standards by conserving resources and recyclin

There were some discrepancies between the passage and lecture over the issues of American companies' reactions to eco-certification sustainable forest practices issued by independent international organization for reasons like consumer's trust in the products, price policy, and domestication of products.

In reference to the passage, it states that American companies have exposed too much advertisement and many of their consumers do not trust these products as most mediocre goods are labeled new or improved;however, the lecture refutes this fact. The lecture explains concisely that American consumers treat adverts differently by comparing the companies' claims to the international certified claims and they also have confidence in consumer agencies with independent international reputation.

Furthermore, the the passage also points out that American consumers are motivated by price and eco-certified wood costs more than uncertified wood but the lecture opposes this notion by saying that research shows that consumers buy products that have competing price higher or lower ,for instance 5% difference, than the other and the lecture further states that most consumers are interested in preserving and protecting the environment hence their increased interest in eco-certified wood.

Conclusively, the passage quotes that most American companies sell their goods in United States and may not be interested in international products and certifications;in spite of this, the lecture contradicts this statement by saying that American companies are motivated by foreign competition. It further explains that as many consumers are attracted to eco-friendly and certified products and if American companies are slow to provide, many foreign investors would swoop in American shops to give the consumers eco-certified products that domestic companies cannot provide.
