Question: Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific solutions presented the reading passage.

To stop spread of cane toad in Australia

The reading states that the number of cane toad has been increased largely, once useful to destroy harmful insects in australia. Author of the passage stated many solution’s to solve this problem. but the lecturer states that those solutions are impractical and wouldn't be helpful to limit the growth of cane toad.

First and foremost, writer of the passage proposed to use fence to control the advance of the toads to the colonized area. The lecturer refutes it strongly and explains that cane toad can move from one place to another place using river path as fence can't be established in the river, which, in turns, transports young cane toad and eggs from one place to another.

Secondly, the writer argues that all the cane toad's can be captured and destroyed by volunteers. The lecturer strongly disagrees with this solution and states that untrained volunteer probably might destroy the cane toad but at the same time they might be destroy some endanger extinction insects too which is harmful for environment.

Lastly, the writer argues that applying disease causing virus to control the growth of cane toad. The lecturer brings the fact that there will be terrible consequence to this solution. In australia, probably this virus is helpful to control the cane toad, but in some other area like central and south America, where this species is needed for ecological balance, that place might be effected too, can destroy the cane toad of other areas rather than australia, which, in turns, will bring catastrophe and can destroy ecological balance.
