TPO-23 - Integrated Writing Task Populations of the yellow cedar, a species of tree that is common in northwestern North America, have been steadily declining for more than a century now, since about 1880. Scientists have advanced several hypotheses expla

A species of tree are in decline in northwestern North america because of insect parasites, brown bears, and change of climate which is not approved by the lecture.
A kind of insect by the name of beetles attack this tree which cause to destroy the tree, also a brown bear claw this tree to gain the barks from this tree, and this cause to destroy the tree too. In addition, gradually changes in climate over 100 years cause the roots to grow in winter rather than growing in early spring, so these causes attribute to decline in this specie of tree.
However, the lecture denies the points made in the reading and adds, the real cause of decline is not known yet. Beetles cannot damage the trees, they only attack on damaged trees. Also, this insect did not cause for damaging of this kind tree. Brown bears attack some trees, but not all of them. Moreover, this species of bear have decline in this area of america, and there is no bear in island, so the bears are not cause in the decline of this tree. Winter did not kill the roots of this tree because in winter the elevation is high, trees are die in low elevation, in the result climate did not contribute to decline in this species of tree.
To sum up, the lecture disagrees with the points made in the lecture with above reasons.
