TPO 29

The main idea of both the passage and the talk is about whether the migration hypothesis, which suggests that the edmontosaur survived on Alaska's North Slope by migrating to south, is true or not. Considering this, the author offers three arguments to support the migration hypothesis. The professor, on the other hand, not only refutes the author's assessments, but also asserts that the announced option runs counter to the ways the reading just discussed. The lecturer demonstrates three reasons to reject the options in the passage.
The first criticism of the passage against which the lecture argues is that the edmontosaur' diet prove the migration hypothesis. As stated by the professor, the edmontosaur did not migrated to find food due to the fact that one hundred million years ago, the weather was warmer than today, and the sun shined for a bout twenty four hour a day. These issues provided a proper growing condition, and in the winter, the edmontosaur could feed on dead nutrition.
Moreover, unlike the passage which claims that the fact that the edmontosaur lived in herds supports the migration hypothesis, the professor illustrates that living in herds does not prove the hypothesis owing to the fact that animals live in herds for several reasons. For example, living in herds create an extreme protection against predators. The teacher provides an example of one types of elks, which lives in western United State, to clarify her point. As stated by the professor, even though the elk lives in herd, they do not migrate. So, it is a fallacious conclusion that living in herds supports the migration hypothesis.
Finally, the lecture contradicts the fallacy of the passage that the edmontosaur's physical gave them a chance to migrate long distances, saying that it is true that the edmontosaur could migrate far distances, however, juveniles did not have the migration ability and they could not protect themselves. Therefore, the edmontosaur should protect them and move slowly to let juveniles reach.
