Both the reading and the lecture discuss the possibility to send humans to Venus. The reading offers three reasons why it is impossible base on the extreme environment on Venus. However, the professor claims that there are still ways to solve the problems. He explanations are demonstrated in the following essay.

First of all, the reading passage mentions that Venus’s high atmospheric pressure is greater than Earth’s which can crash anything on Venus. Yet, the lecture states that if we establish a station 50 kilometers above the ground, the pressure would be suitable for people. The atmospheric pressure on objects decreases when the objects go higher. That is to say, if the station could float in the air, which can be depicted as a balloon, 50 kilometers high, the pressure of the station would be as same as on earth.

Secondly, the passage suggests that Venus has no oxygen and water. Besides, it is impractical to send is from Earth. Nevertheless, the lecturer proposes that we transform the compounds on Venus, such as sulfuric acid or nitrogen, to oxygen and water. The chemical reaction can be done on Venus. Consequently, the problem of no water and oxygen on Venus's surface is solved.

Last but not least, the professor of the reading asserts that due to the thick cloud on Venus, the sunlight reach to the ground is not enough for solar power. Once again, the speaker holds a different perspective. He said that while people are living high above the ground, the light can reach to people more than being blocked by thick cloud. Furthermore, in the middle air, people can also receive sunlight from reflection in the atmosphere, which can generate power.
