In the lecture, the professor makes a series of points that cast doubt on all the arguments presented in the passage .The professor believes new stricter rules are definitely necessary and refutes all the reasons that author presents in the article .The author states in the reading that sufficient rules for coal waste are already exist and there is no need to have more stricter rules.
First of all, the professor argues with the fact that liner rule is sufficient .She states that this rules are applied for only new land and pond not old one, so for older land these rules are not applicable.There are significant damage in the old land which made leak ground and contamination of drinking water which is very harmful for people.
Second, the professor points out to the fact that example of mercury in the past and for 50 years shows us that consumers do not nessessarily stop buying recycling materials due to stricter rules.
Lastly, the lecturer believes the increase cost of power company is true .However she states it is acceptable by people as it would be only 10 percent increase for every household. If people have cleaner energy this cost is reasonable.
