According to the passage, it is the authors' conviction that coin which is found in the Mine is a historical fake owing to some highlighted reasons. However, the professor casts doubt on this claim and refuses all the mentioned points by providing some noticeable evidence which would be explained in the following paragraphs.
First, the passage asserts that location of the coin is far from other sites where the Norse settlement presented. In the opposition, the speaker explains that native went to far places for obtaining new materials possibly bring the coin to its present location.
Second, the reading implies that no other coins have been discovered so the coin was not genuine. Conversely, the professor rebuts this claim by stating that not finding another coin cannot be a valid proof for considering coin fake. The Norse brought coins to North America but they took them back when they came back.
Third, the writer alludes that silver coins were useless in North America as the native Americans did not exploit coin as money. Therefore, Norse did not have coins with them while they traveled to North America. On the contrary, the professor points out that silver coins were appealing for natives besides, it would be used as jewelry like neckless. As a result, silver coin was not fake.
In conclusion, the professor rejects the writer claims by some significant reasons.
