The reading discusses that, although it would be useful to utilize the box-shaped device in order to prevent the environment from desertification, some scientists provide some reasons to show that who it is not a successful idea. On contrary, the lecturer comes up with strong evidence to reveal that their reasons are not convenient enough.
Initially, the reading discusses the cost and expense of these devices which is not affordable by some countries when the number of them increases too much. Conversely, the professor mentioned after a while, these devices can be used for several trees when each of them grows up. This would be cost-effective bypassing the time.

Secondly, the reading argues that it seems to be difficult to motivate people for taking care of plants when they do not get any food from them. In contrast, the lecturer provides the idea that although they do not get any food from those plants, these devices could help them to gain more water for other consumption like vegetables. Besides, the roots of plants protect their environment and prohibit it from firewood.

Finally, it has been argued by the writer that these devices will not be practicable when the trees grow up because they cannot provide enough water for mature trees; they just prepare water to survive the small trees. On the other hand, the lecturer provides a fabulous idea that after using these devices for trees, the rots of them go deeply along the ground and access to the underground water supply. That is why they will not need those devices when they grow up. For example, these devices have been used in the Sahara desert, and at last, 90 percent of trees can survive after they grew up.
