Both author and lecturer offer two opposing views on the possibility of the human's permanent maintain on the planet Venus. While the reading passage lists three obstacles for this action, the professor counters these specific points and mentions that although it is an arduous task to make it happen, it is feasible by the floated station on the atmosphere of the Venus, 50 km above its surface.

First of all, the article posits that for the sake of the high pressure of the atmosphere on the Venus' surface, anything might have landed on the Venus would have been crushed. However, the instructor challenges this claim. As he asserts, due to the fact that at high altitude, the pressure of atmosphere decreases, the 50 km above the Venus' atmosphere contains the pressure as equal to the pressure of the Erath's atmosphere. Therefore, there is no risk of crushing.

Second, the text mentions that as there is no reservoir of water and oxygen on the Venus, there is the requirement of the regular supply of the water and oxygen from the Earth, which defeats the purpose of the action. On the other hand, the lecturer dismisses the accuracy of this declaration for the sake of the other elements exist on the Venus. Based on her assertion, the Venus contains the huge amount of the carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid from which the oxygen and water can be derived. Consequently, there is no demand for the water and oxygen supplement from the Earth, and the station could provide the required amount of the water and oxygen.

Finally, the passage assumes that as there is a scanty amount of the sunlight on the Venus' surface, because of the thick atmosphere and dense layer of the carbon dioxide existence. The professor casts debates on this issue too. As he states, even though the location of the station is under the thick atmosphere, the thickness of the air in that spot is little than the Venus surface; thereby the people will have to the big portion of the sunlight. Besides, the station location leads the station gains advantages from the reflected sunlight by the layer of the carbon dioxide. The reflection of the sunlight by the thick carbon dioxide layer is useful for the generation of the electricity required for the machines.
