The reading and the lecture are both about massive stone buildings that have many rooms and three or four houses. The author of the reading believes that there are three possible reasons for using these buildings but the lecture casts doubt on the claims made in the lecture. He thinks that all reason that alluded in reading are not convincing.

First of all, the author claims that these buildings are used for living and many numbers of people lived there. This point is challenged by the lecture. He says that residential place needs many fire places for daily cooking, but there was only fire place for ten families there. Also there was not enough room for that people for living.

Secondly, the author states that these buildings are used for storing food. He argues that maintain grain mazie there for a long period of time. This argument is rebutted by the lecture. He suggests that they do not discover any evidence in excavation for storing food.

Finally, the author mentions that they use these houses as the ceremonial center. He is of the opinion that archeologists found a mound that contains many puts in it. The lecture, on the other hand, feels that it is not true. He [puts forth the idea that in this mound there is a lot of material of sand, stone and other buildings materials, so this place was not a ceremonial center. Furthermore there is not good evidence for using this place for special ceremony.
