The chart below shows the number of trips made by children in one country in 1990 and 2020 to travel to and from school using different modes of transport.

The given chart illustrates the number of trips made by children in a particular country in 1990 and 2010. The five modes of transport were car passenger, walking, cycling, walking with bus and bus.

Overall, the popularity of walking was the highest in 1990. Over the period of 20 years, car passenger became the most popular.

In 1990, the children went to more than 12 million trips on foot, while in 2010, the number halved to 6 million. By contrast, not many students traveled to and from school by car passenger initially, however, the number of trips using the mean of transport increased by 8 million and accounted for under 12 million in 2010.

There were more than 6 million trips per year using bikes in 1990, while only one third of that in the last year. A similar pattern could be seen in the figure for the remain types of transport. At the outset, combination of walking and bus was used for nearly 6 million trips and that of bus was about 7 million. In 2010, the number of trips using walking with bus and bus were roughly 3 million and about 5 million respectively.
