Integrate writing : Carved stone balls are a curious type of artifact found at a number of locations in Scotland. They date from the late Neolithic period, around 4,000 years ago. They are round in shape; they were carved from several types of stone; most

The reading specifies that there are three theories which shows the purpose of carved stone balls. However, the lecture casts doubt on this theories and brings up three specific reasons to reject the points made in the reading passage.
First, the author asserts that these stone balls may be used as weapons because there are some holes in them. On the other hand, the lecture assets that many stones have cracks and holes in them, and they are not a convincing signs showing that these stone balls have been a kind of weapon.
Second, based on the reading, it is possible that the stone balls have been a part of primitive weighting system. On the contrary, the lecture contradicts this claim, reasoning that these stone balls may be uniform in size, but they are not uniform in weight. In fact, the stones were made of different type of stones such as sand stone and ground stone, and some of them are heavier than the others.
Third, based on the reading, the stone balls might serve a social purpose. Nonetheless, the professor challenges this idea by explaining that it is unlikely that the stones served social purpose in view of the fact that many of the designs are simple. Moreover, when wealthy people died, they buried their possessions with them, but no stone ball has been found in their toms.
