"A nation should require all its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college rather than allow schools in different parts of the nation to determine which academic courses to offer."
Education is one among the crucial methods that result in the development of a country, by resolving the many hurdles and problems that hinder its growth.
The author states that a nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college. While I can agree to the fact that such a recommendation helps the young minds to get a understanding of the values of nation, the interests of individuals also have to be taken into accord to enhance individual and as a result a cumilative national development.
To begin with, the recommendation definitely helps the talented young minds to understand the values on which the nation was built and keeps it going on a progressive track. There are convoluted issues that perturb the development of the country and puts it in a back seat. Enabling the students to understand the the goals of a nation from such a young age definitely helps them to be a part of social and national building. For example, a vast and diverse country such as India faces numerous difficulties such as poverty, corruption and so on. It is often said the students are the leaders of tomorrow. Keeping thaat in mind, the recommendation above helps the students to bring in fresh ideas and concepts that could ultimately resolve such issues afflicting the country. On the basis of national development and building, the recommendation truly helps.
Secondly, the recommendation above helps to create a unified system of education upon which all students get equal opportunity to excel. Lack of education among the impoverished sections is one of the primary factors hindering the growth of a nation. Even if students from impovershed sections of society are able to attain education, it is not a necessary that these bright and talented students achieve quality education. For instance, lack of qulaity education is one of the primary reasons that countries such as pakistan, myanmmar and so on are not able to tackle the problems face by them. Therefore, providing a same curiiculum that offered to all students helps each and every young minds to attain quality educaton irrespective of their social and financial backgrounds. This coupled with the recommendation compliments each other, enabling students of the poorer sections of empower themselves.
However, I agree with recommendation provided it does not hinder the interests of a student. Governments should be flexibile to understand the intersts of students. Since people are unique and distinct from each other, so is their interests as well as their ambitions. For instance, a student might be interested in studying german or french. Therefore, governments should be flexible to include such subjects and majors as an option with the recommendation provided above. For example, the indian curiiculum consists of learning the history of India, the language of India: HIndi and so on. While these subjects are andatory in the initial stages of education, as the student grows, they are given the flexibilty to learn any foreign language or a regional language instead of learning hindi. Such a flexibility allows students to gain wordly knowledge that will definitely help in national building.
To conclude, the author above prsents a recommendation which I feel will help the young talented minds to achieve personal growth that could very well be the method to resolve the many problems and hurdles that encumber the development of the nation. Howver, while implementig such a recommendation, governments should udrstand the intersts of stdents.
