The line graph illustrates the comparison of the three different categories of crime ( car theft, house burglary, and street robbery) in England and Wales, over a 35 year period, from 1970 to 2005.

Overall, it is apparent that the crime which is related to car theft was higher than the house burglary and the street robbery throughout the entire period given.

From 1970 to 1980, the figure for the car thefts and the house burglaries followed the similar pattern. The crime rate was 0.4 million for the car theft and 0.2 million for the house burglary, which increased to 0.8 and 0.6 million respectively. After that, the crime rate for the car theft rose gradually, and in 1995, it reached a high of 1.6 million, then there was a sharp decline observed, in 2005, it went down to 1 million. On the other hand, then the number of cases for house burglaries fluctuated over the next years, and it reached around 5 million.

On the contrary, there were a meager amount of offense ( about 0.01 million) rates observed form 1970 to 1990 in England and Wales, but after that, this crime increased slightly and went to 0.2 million in 2000, and remained stable by the end of the given period.
