In the 1995-2002 period, the rate of local- fixed line remained steadily until 2002, at over 70% and it peaked at 90% in the year 1999. People in the UK used national and international- fixed line increased gradually, from below 40% to over 60%. By contrast, the rate of using mobiles plunged about 30%.
Using local-fixed line always remained highest of total number of minutes of telephone calls over 70% from 1995 to 2002. Although the percentage of calling by mobiles went up rapidly, it still accounted for the smallest rate over the period and its highest point was at approximately 37% throughout 2002.
