The graph below shows the demand for electricity in England during typical days in winter and summer. The pie chart shows how electricity is used in an average English home.

The graph illustrates the need for electricity in England during specific days in summer and winter seasons. The pie chart compares the use of electricity in four different purposes.

Overall, it can been seen that the demand of electricity in winter is considerably higher than that in summer. And heating remains the primary consumption of electricity.

During winter, the requirement of electricity ranges from 30000 to 44000 units, compared to summer from 12000 to 20000 units only. The urge of electricity typically hits a peak at around 10 pm in winter (42000 units), whereas it is the afternoon (2 pm) for summer (20000 units). Surprisingly, both spells reach a low in the morning at around 8:30 am.

Heating rooms and heating water stand at slightly over half (52.5%) of the total, followed by Ovens, Kettles and washing machines at approximately one fifth (17.5%). Interestingly, the rest two 'lighting, TV, radio' and 'Vacuum cleaners, food mixers, electric tools' contribute 15% each .
