The graph below shows the population figures for different type of turtles in India from 1980 to 2012.
The presented line graph provides the amount of four kinds of turtles in India between 1980 to 2012 with respect to their population in the beginning of the given period.
The number of olive ridley turtles and all species rose over the given period, whereas the populations of green and leatherback turtles experienced a significant fall.
Between 1980 and 1997 the population of olive ridley turtles increased gradually reaching a peak of about 135 per cent of 1980's population. Then the figures levelled off near to 130 per cent. Meanwhile, the number of all species grew slightly to 115 per cent in 1985. After that, there was a three year period of a sharp fall followed by bouncing up to approximately 110. At the rest of the period the data fluctuated.
The number of green turtles dropped slightly between 1980 and 2001. Then the size of the population remained steady until 2012 at around 90 per cent. The population of leatherback turtles rose sharply until 1987, when it reached its highest number of 110 per cent. After that there was a steep decrease to 55 per cent in 2008, followed by a recovery to 60 per cent in 2012.
