You live in a room in college which you share with another student.
However, there are many problems with this arrangement and you find it
very difficult to work.
Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college. In your letter:
1. describe the situation
2. explain your problems and why it is difficult to work
3. say what kind of accommodation you would prefer
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to you to highlight an issue that I am facing regarding my current accommodation, which is a shared room with two beds. I am from the mechanical engineering course, while my roommate belongs to the Anthropology course. We have been sharing this room for 2 months now.
As you know, mechanical engineering is an extremely demanding subject with a lot of assignments, and it requires complete focus and dedication for a good ranking. On the other hand, my roommate completes her practical study during her classes and does not have much work to do outside of the class. Because of this, she spends her time either talking on the telephone or inviting her friends to the room. This becomes quite a distraction for me to stay focussed on my studies.
It would be great if I could get an option to switch my room to a private one, with a single bed. It would be much better for me to focus on my assignments, without causing any restrictions to anyone around me.
I sincerely hope you consider my request to shift my room type. Looking forward to hearing from you
Yours faithfully,
Sweta Jobanputra
