do you agree or disagree that grades help students to work harder
No one can deny that grades could be considered as a good addition to the learning system. In my view, I agree with the idea that marks could help students for better achievement through their learning journey. I fell this way for two reasons, which I will explore in the following article.
First of all, grades could encourage students for hard-working because they either want to keep the high level of grades they already get or improve these grades if it is low. For example, I can use my personal experience to explain that. In 2003, I was a student in the last year of high school. I remember that it was the year of the war in Iraq, and there are no schools for a while because of the terrible situation at that time. I kept on my study even with the sound of bombs and the fear of hazard circumstances because I used to be one of the special students in my school and all of my teachers rely on me to achieve good grades and attend a good college. Therefore, as I mentioned before, I worked seriously hard and I achieved good grades which allow me to attend dentistry college in Baghdad university (one of the most prestigious universities in Iraq).
Second, grades help teachers in specific and schools, in general, to invest their students for a bright future. In other words, it helps teachers to sort their students according to their smartness level, and meanwhile, they will give them a better chance to be a good and positive figure in the future to serve the country and the community. For instance, when I arrived in the United State in 2014, my son was 7 years old and he had to join the school as a first-grader student. After 3-4 months of the school year, I received a letter from his teacher states that my son has something special and he is eligible to attend the gifted and talented program (a special program for smart students with a high level of education and projects). These kinds of programs offered students a scholarship and a better chance to attend interesting universities like Harvard or others.
To Wrap it up, in conclusion, I can agree that grades are a reasonable addition to the education system for two reasons. the first one is, grade helps educators to work harder and achieve better results. Second, grades are a good way to invest the generations for a better future for the country and population as well by offering them an advanced learning system that accommodates their level.
