R robustus

Essay topics:

R. robustus

Both author and lecturer discuss whether R.robustus can hunt dinosaur or not. The former argues against the statement using three reasons, whereas the latter contradicts all these points.

First of all, the passage states R.robustus is too small to hunt dinosaur as it’s size is almost equal to that of a domestic cat. However, the listening rebuts stating although the size of R. robustus was small it was big enough to hunt small dinosaur and babies of other large dinosaurs. In addition, R. robustus was twice the size of small dinosaurs and baby dinosaurs so, it is likely that they were hunted.

Second of all, the reading claims R.robustus suited more for scavanging than hunting. On the other hand, the professor counters this claim by mentioning of similar predator. Tasmanian Devil, a similar creature with short legs and little size but active in moving, was a successful hunter which signifies the possibility that R.robustus with similar characterisitics was successfull in hunting dinosaur.

Finally, the text asserts no real evidence was found supporting the claim that dinosaur was hunted. In constrast, the lecturer argues expecting tooth marks in bone of dinosaur contained in the stomach of R. robustus was illogical. As R. robustus contained powerful jaws it was able to swallow big pieces and smaller preys directly.
