Essay topics:

A recent study reveals that people especially young people are reading far less literature—novels, plays, and poems—than they used to. This is troubling because the trend has unfortunate effects for the reading public, for culture in general, and for the future of literature itself.

While there has been a decline in book reading generally, the decline has been especially sharp for literature. This is unfortunate because nothing else provides the intellectual stimulation that literature does. Literature encourages us to exercise our imaginations, empathize with others, and expand our understanding of language. So by reading less literature, the reading public is missing out on important benefits.

Unfortunately, missing out on the benefits of literature is not the only problem. What are people reading instead? Consider the prevalence of self-help books on lists of best sellers. These are usually superficial poorly written, and intellectually undemanding. Additionally, instead of sitting down with a challenging novel, many persons are now more likely to turn on the television, watch a music video, or read a Web page. Clearly, diverting time previously spent in reading literature to trivial forms of entertainment has lowered the level of culture in general.

The trend of reading less literature is all the more regrettable because it is taking place during a period when good literature is being written. There are many talented writers today, but they lack an audience. This fact is bound to lead publishers to invest less in literature and so support fewer serious writers. Thus, the writing as well as the reading of literature is likely to decline because of the poor standards of today's readers.

The reading states that today's people less interested in reading literature and as a result this trend effects some unfortunate in culture and future of literature. However, the lecturer challenged the claims made by the author. He explains that While people now less like reading book but it does not mean that to decline the value of culture and others things and each of the claims of the author,s are unconvincing and The lecturer refutes each of the author's claims.

First of all, the reading argues that now people are less like to reading literature, as a result people are missing some important benefits, because literature provides som intellectual stimulation.because by the reding of literature helps to enhance our imaginations and expand our understanding of language. This specific argument is challenged by the lecturer. He says that not only literature books, also others reading like science, but political and other books also have some creativity and help to improve our brain's cognitive power, thus emphasize our brain

is not mean that to need literature reading only.

Secondly, the reading states that peoples are now diverted, they so much like to watch Tv shows or like listening to the song rather than reading literature books, as a resulting decline the cultural values and looses their intellectuality. The lecturer, However, rebuts this claim that now there are various form to approach to culture, and some way more direct and more considerable rather than reading form. The lecturer, furthermore, says that to listening briliantsong or to saw Tv show does not mean that to decline cultural value because this approacjhes helps to people get the culture more easily.

Finally, the reading posits that the result of poor standards of readers, publisher less like to invested and support serious leterature writers. In contrast, the lecturer's position is that this is not reader problems, it is actually author problem, because readrs are some do not understant the language of literature and sometime not to specify what plot actually writer tried to made, thus this argument of reader does not hold any consideration.
