The reading passage and the speaker both explore the topic of solutions to prevent injures of glass to birds. However, the speaker discords with the ideas in the reading passage. He casts doubt on the article for the following reasons.
First of all, the speaker opposes the idea related to the use of one-way glass. Although the reading passage suggests that the bird can notice the difference when they see the one-side glass, the speaker points out that this kind of glass wich create a mirror-like effect, is meaningless to prevent birds flying toward it. Hence, the speaker concludes that the option will not be a proper solution.
Furthermore, while the article indicates that painting on the glass can be effective as well, the speaker argues that birds will still precede fly right into the blank spaces on the glass, which for bird, it is like an opening hole, moreover, increase the painted area to cover up the “hole” will not be a preferable choice for the human living in the building. Therefore, the second solution will not be considered.
Last but not least, the speaker refutes the reading passage by mentioning solution of applying a magnetic field. Even though the article states that this will help changing the direction, the speaker rejects the idea by bringing up a reason that birds normally use eyes and the brightness of light to distinguish the direction when they fly in a short distance. Thus, the creation of the magnetic field will be pointless.
To sum up, the speaker tends to disagree with the points in the article due to the unconvincing arguments presented in the passage.
