The text claims that taxes on cigarette is beneficial in some ways. However the lecturer claims that requiring taxes on cigarattes is not an adequate and propriate and she believes that it is chalenging. Moreover, the speaker presents some evidence to refute them all.
First, the reading argues that taxes discourage people from buying unhealthy food or cigarattes. Therefore, the author mentiones that when the taxes on cigarattes increased the purchasing of it simultaniously decreased and it can be interfiered that it has the same result on nthe unhealthy foods. Conversely the prefessor brings up the idea that higher prises of cigarettes ont only won't be helpfull and a practical but also people will have the tendency to buy the cheaper and the lower qualiy cigarattes which is definetly harmes the salibrious states of the individuals much worse. She indicates that the the unhealthy food is no exception in this conviction and people will use the even if they are expensive.
Furthermore, the author holds the view that it is fair that the taxes just comprimise the people who sought to unhealthy behavaiours. Conversly the prefessor undelinnes the fact that fair is the matter of where you stand and if we take the view of the smokers into account we will see that they are not having pretty much the same things the goverment has in mind. IN addition she demonstrated that the taxes heavy burden is mostly influencing the people with lower incomes rather than the rich ones. Thus it is crystal clear that the consequences is not exactly what the goverment believes it is.
Finally, the text states that the taxes on cigarattes are being spent on medical issues and other schemes that benefit the whole popullation. On the other hand the selcturer dismiss this issue, pointing out that the goverment has kind of been accustomed and depended on the taxes. Hence declines to set other appropriate policies like abondening the smoking in out doors.
