TPO 11

Young people are reading fewer literature-books, and it results in negative consequences. The idea is criticized in the lecture.

Foremost, the reading suggests that if people do not read literature-novels, they would not exercise their imagination. The professor, however, refutes this point, claiming that many other books such as historical, scientific, and political books have high quality; consequently, these books exercise the brain, similar to how literature does.

Secondly, according to the reading, people are wasting their time by reading super fiction, watching movies, or listening to music. In contrast, the professor outlined her objection pointing out that listening to a meaningful music piece or watching an extraordinary movie is not less beneficial than reading a literature-novel.

According to the professor, movies and music do not have a lower cultural standard; in fact, they can contribute to the culture with more diversity; therefore, they are as fruitful.

Finally, the author wraps his argument positioning that, people are missing out on modern novels with high quality. While the professor claims that the quality of modern literature is considerably low; even the old readers wouldn't consider reading such kind of books.

While the reading accuses the reader and publishers of the lack of audience, the professor claims that the writers caused the poor standards.

To sum up, both the author and the professor hold conflicting views about the literature, and they would have a hard time finding common ground about the issue.
