The article states that scientists believe it is not possible for human to in the Venus and provides three reasons of support. In the listening, the professor explains that it is possible to colonize Venus if people establish a floating station in the middle of the atmosphere of the Venus, then he refutes all the mention reasons in the reading.
First, the passage claims that the atmospheric pressure is too much on the surface of the Venus. It is 90 times greater than what is on the earth. The lecturer opposes this point by saying that the atmospheric pressure will decrease at higher elevations, so by erecting the station in high elevations this problem will be solved.
Second, the text asserts that there no water supplies on Venus's surface, and its atmosphere is composed of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and sulfuric acid, with no oxygen or water vapor. Also, it is not possible to supply them from the earth. In contrast, the professor expresses that the floated station can use the atmosphere's carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid to produce oxygen and water.
Third, the reading mentions that the dense clouds in Venus's atmosphere prevent sunlight to reach the surface of it which will result in lack of energy source for producing electricity. On the contrary, the lecturer says that the clouds are less dense in high elevators where the station is established, so lack of solar energy will not be a problem there.
