The reading claims that from the beginning of time, sending humans to Mars would require solving a wide variety of problems. However, the lecturer finds all the ideas questionable and presents some evidence to refute them all.
The author argues the first problem is that astronauts need food, water, and oxygen to travel to space but the cargo capacity of space vehicles is too limited to put on board them required by a crew for a period of two years. It is impossible for astronauts to travel to space without them. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that astronauts can use Hydroponics as a technique for producing food and oxygen and they should be cultivated food crops. Also, hydroponics could release some drinking water and oxygen.

Furthermore, the reading passage may hold the view that astronauts would be in the zero-gravity on Mars mission so, it can have negative effects on the human body and it would be impossible for humans to make the trip without experiencing grave medical problems. On the contrary, the professor underlines the fact that astronauts have learned to use several exercises to conflict decreasing muscle mass.although they can use calcium pills to have strong bones for carrying strong muscles.

Finally, the reading asserts that astronauts would be exposed to dangerous levels of space radiation which emitted by the sun. Although, constructing a shield that would protect the whole spaceship from space radiation is impossible because of its too much weight. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that the sun occasionally emitted that dangerous radiation also shield is small enough and have a few weight, so astronauts can go to that little shield when the radiation is high and they can come back to spaceship when the radiation is not dangerous.
