In this sets of material, both the reading and the lecture discussed the science of archaeology in Britain. The reading passage firmly stated that yet in twentieth century, there are still many limitations and problems for archaeologists. However the lecture repudiated what stated in the reading resting upon fallacious premises and provides three counterclaims proofing that there have many improvements in that field, regarding recent rules and guidelines.

Firstly, the article claimed that, many valuable handmade artifacts had been lost during excavation phase of some new projects. The professor contradicted this point by acknowledging that nowadays every site has to be examined by archaeologists before any construction activity. Therefore, the site will be checked in order not to destroy any precious artifacts.

Secondly, the reading argued that archaeologists believe that the budget they received from the government is not adequate. Notwithstanding the professor highlighted that actually archaeologists are mostly paid by construction companies for their initial examination of the project site. Consequently, they will not subsidize directly by the government any more.

Lastly, the article contended that they are not many job positions available for a graduate student from archaeology; many of them could not find a suitable occupation after their graduations. This seemed to be incorrect as explained in the lecture. The speaker articulated that by confirming new rules and laws which are obligatory for all construction companies to follow, many new vocations had been created in this science.
