The charts below show the percentage of food budget the average family spent on restaurant meals in different years. The graph shows the number of meals eaten in fast food restaurants and sit-down restaurants.
The pie charts elucidate how much money spent by the average family on food in four years from 1970 to 2000, which is measured in a percentage whereas the line graph illustrates how many fast food meals and sit-down meals were in each year.
As is observed from the pie graphs, there was a considerable growth in the money spent on the restaurant from one-fifths in 1970 to exactly half in 2000.
The most striking feature can be seen from the line graph is that even though both of fast food meals and sit-down meals started at the same point (at 20 times per year) it ended at the different spots. Fast food meals showed a drastic increase from 1980 where it rose by about 3 times to reach at approximately 55 in 1990 and it ended at its highest point of 90 times. In contrast, the number of eaten at the sit-down restaurant was showing the parabola line to reach at its highest in 2000 of 50 times per year.
It is apparent that, within 30 years of time, having meals in the restaurants become popular especially in the fast-food restaurants.
