Although, fabricated talk to the public can lead to a short-lived success but for a long term goal and effectiveness one must be honest enough. Otherwise, once the real truth comes out public start loathing those politicians. For example, in India, many politicians were once the paragon of Indian politics, but when the truth came out that they were involved in some corruption, people stopped trusting them. Eventually, those politicians were convicted and their influence on people have been gone forever.

Moreover, if we take a look towards a candid and prudent politician due to his honesty and prudence, he will be revered forever. Such kind of politicians will have a permanent impact on the public. For example, India's former prime minister Mr. Lalbahadur Shatri was very resolute towards his beliefs and objectives. He always cared about the national benefits, and for the sake of success, he never tried to beguile the public. Even during the recession, he decided to keep fast for once in a week and same he asked to do to the people of India so that resources could be saved. Although this idea was not like by the public initially, people started seeing the positive impact of this idea and started keeping fast. So clearly if a politician is consistent and fervid towards his beliefs, he'll be very effective.

Last but not least, for the sake of national security and public security a politician should be adamant to the external forces. For example, a politician shouldn't be thwarted by external pressures and also should be determined to fight against the invasion or against detrimental forces like terrorism. For which a politician needs to be determined, as many countries have been able to preclude the terrorism only because their politicians were untangled by those factors.

However, it's not completely true that politicians must be committed, as sometimes to soothe public outrage and to climb the political stairs a politician needs to hide some information which are not detrimental for the society and nation and that obscurity of truth could be helpful to politician's success.

So it's clear from above citations that, if a politician is honest, trustworthy, and determined, he/she will be long regarded and public will have long lived reverence towards him or her.
