Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information in the graph below.

The series of pie charts reveal the changing pattern of budget that was spent by general families on restaurants from 1970 to 2000, whereas the comparison of the popularity of fast food and sit-down restaurant over the same period was manifested in the line graph.

As shown from the information provided, the percentage of budget for dining in restaurant by an average family significantly increased over the three decades. Standing at 10% and 15% in 1970 and 1980 respectively, the ratio of dining outside saw an approximately tripled rise in 80's. In 2000, the money spent on eating out was at the same level of that of home cooking.

Regarding the demands over two types of catering service providers, the popularity of both fast food shop and sit-down restaurant registered a remarkable growth over the 40-year period. In spite of the identical figure of 20 meals per year in 1970, sit-down restaurant gained its prevalence up to 50 meals per year in 2000, while the surge from 1980 ensured the staggering growth of fast food meals overtook its counterpart in 1990, demonstrating a quadrupled influence to the public in 2000.

Overall, the fast food had grown in importance over this period.
