The table gives information about the number of visits overseas according to its purpose by the british residents, while the bar graph depicts the countries travelled by these residents in 1994 to 1998.

Overall, most of uk residents travelled abroad mainly to spend holidays while other reason at the least. The number of visits had a significant increase over the period and reached the high on 1998. Of all the countries of visit, western europe was the most popular to the british people.

In details, 15, 246 out of 100,000 uk residents said that their main purpose of travelling overseas was for leisure and fun in 1994, the number continued to increase in 1998 to over one fifth. other reasons of visits were the least which was consist only of 982 uk residents in 1994 and witnessed a minimal rise in 1997 at 1054 before it decreased to by less than 100 people travelling abroad in 1998.

On the other hand, western europe was the favorite destination for the british people at almost 20,000 in 1994 , but a slight decreased in the number was observed the following year. However, the next three years witnessed a steady increase to almost one quarter of 100,000 uk residents. North America was the least likely travelled continent for the british over the period.
