The maps below show the changes that have taken place at the waterfront area of a town called Darwin between 2009 and 2014. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The two given pictures compare the waterfront area of Darwin town in terms of the development in distinctive years namely 2009 and 2014.
It is obvious that the town registered a number of substantial changes. Overall, some infrastructure and amenities replaced the industrial area to meet residents’ basic needs.
In 2014, to the south of the waterfront, most areas used for the industry were replaced by many trees in order to create fresh air. Additionally, the residential buildings in the center of the town were doubled in number and a new university building was constructed to provide more educational places for people. Moreover, in 2014, a harbor built on the seashore combining with the expanded footpath helped to improve the town’s tourism.
In 2014, in the north area of the town, the industrial area next to the lake was demolished to make way for a small swimming pool to encourage people to play sports. Meanwhile, the school, the convention center, and the area for fishing still remained in the same location as in 2009.
