Write a letter to the company. In your letter:
describe the benefits of sponsoring the sports team
summarise the benefits of paying for the concerts
say how you think the company should spend the money
Dear Sir or Madam
I am a resident of City Avenue, the society right next to your office. This letter is in response to the communication we had received from your company seeking the feedback on whether you should sponsor a local children’s sports team for two years or fund two open air concerts.
The sponsorship for the sports team would help the kids from poor background to buy good quality sports equipments and gears and may also help the players to get better training and diet consultations, thereby improving their overall performance. But it will be of help only to the families whose children are a part of the team whereas open air concerts will entertain all alike. In addition, this area has never witnessed a concert of this kind earlier because of which this may also seem like a very exciting option.
But considering the benefits of the two alternatives, providing a sponsorship for the sports team appears to be a greater social cause and therefore outweighs that of paying for the concert, which is nothing more than a short lived source of entertainment. Therefore, in my opinion you should be funding the former.
