You are applying for a job and need a letter of reference from someone who knew you when you were at school. Write a letter to one of your old teachers asking for a reference. in your letter
• Say what job you have applied for.
• explain why you want this job.
• Suggest what information the teacher should include.
Dear Madam,
I am applying for a job and would need a reference letter from a school teacher. Since, you know me for a very long time I would like you to write the letter for me.
Let me explain in detail. Firstly, I have recently been offered a role of Accounts professor by Singapore University and I would like to take it up. Moreover, I have just completed my teaching course and this seems like a good start to my career. Due to the summer holidays, there were no job vacancies for almost two months, as a result I was unemployed. Secondly, my savings are diminishing and I urgently need to fill up the position or else they might move on to another candidate.
Lastly, here are some information that need to be included in the letter. My participation in school activities like - debates, school events, etc. Also, since I was the captain of the basketball team, it would be nice to add that too. Finally, you can mention about my personality in school and how long we know each other.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours Faithfully,
Mary Adams
