Your neighbors have a dog that is noisy at night. You can’t sleep. Write a letter to your neighbors. In your letter:

– describe the problem with the dog

– explain why it is important for you to sleep

– outline what your neighbors could do about the situation.

Dear Mr. Smith,

I hope everything is well. I am writing to you regarding the problem that your dog has caused me and would like to ask you to think of a solution.

First of all, I like to describe the dilemma that your pet has put me through. Since your dog is extremely pampered, it does not appreciate being left alone and makes a lot of noise at night when you are at the hospital. The walls are too thin, and as your immediate neighbor I can hear your dog’s wailing loud and clear.

I am a light sleeper, and even the slightest noise wakes me up. Therefore, it is not a surprise that I cannot get a decent amount of sleep whenever you leave your dog behind. In contrast to you who work night shifts, getting up early is essential to me if I want to beat the traffic jam and get to work on time.

Since it seems that you pet is awfully lonely, I recommend you to buy another dog to entertain him while you are away or at least put him to sleep before going out. Moreover, I have heard of a special program for pets which trains them to be quiet and play on their own when left alone. It might be a good idea to give it a try.

Kind regards,

Behnaz Yousefi
