There is an ancient adage, "Truth shall prevail". Relationships among human beings are mainly based on trust and true emotional feelings and affection. I personally believe that telling truth is the paramount consideration in any relationship between people. I feel this way for two Main reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.
First of all, being truthful to our friends and family increases the acceptability of us to them. A person who is truthful in his/her relationship with his/her near and dear ones is believed by all of them. People often go through emotional hardship and when they face such a situation, they need to share their pains and problems with someone who is trustworthy. It releases the pain to a great extent. My own experience is a compelling Example of this. I have a good relationship with one of my colleagues named Mr. X. When he came out with very poor result in one of his professional exams, he was very depressed. He was going through a very painful situation. Then, One day he told me his situation and I found that I had also gone through the same situation two years ago. So, We talked a lot about the matter and I gave him advice depending on my personal experience and eventually he managed to overcome the bad situation.
Secondly, honesty augments our self-esteem and confidence. It goes without saying that nobody feels good telling lies to others or deceiving others. Being straight and obvious put us on the right track of emotional stability. For instance, when I was in primary school, once I took 100 Taka(Currency of Bangladesh) from my father's wallet without telling him and brought a cricket bat with the money. Later, I felt very ashamed of the incident and decided to reveal the secret to my parents. Then two days after the incident I told my parents the truth. Their reaction was better than I expected. They appreciated me for being honest with them and therefore I felt relieved.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that being truthful with our near and dear ones is of great importance. This is because it makes our relationships stronger and also increases our confidence and self-esteem.
