In my opinion, being an expert in a restrict field is much better than having a bit of information about everything. I have two main reasons for this, which will explore in the following essay.
First, in our modern world, with the high speed of data transfer, and the increase of researches, we should learn very deep in our fields to be a scholar in that specific area of science. Today, you can easily google what you want, which means having a superficial knowledge of different ideas is very common. Maybe about five hundred years ago, if you had known anything about an area of science, you were the god of that subject. But now, people try to be the best in their modified and special branches of science. In my university, we have about thirty professors. They work in different branches of engineering. Although their fields of working overlap at some points, you can’t find any intersects in their means. We have a famous professor in our department, Dr. Hosseini, who is one of the best researchers in the world in thermodynamic systems. His secret of success is that he has been working many years just in an individual area of thermodynamics.
Second, studying in different fields, especially in our complicated world, makes you confused. If you try to use your brain to handle divergent topics, you will feel perplexed. Neither can’t you understand new lessons nor can’t you be a creative student. We are living in the most hectic, curious and puzzled era, so we should keep our mindsets controlled. One of my friends applied for studying mathematics after the entrance exam of universities. After about two years, he decided to learn literature beside his university, and after six months, he started swim expertly. After a while, he felt puzzled and abolished all of them. His story indicates my reason very well.
In conclusion, I think that working in a modified field is the best choice for our professional lives for two main reasons. A bit of information on divergent topics is not valuable and debilitates your character, and different studies make you confuse.
