Summarize the points made in the lecture you just heard, explaining how they cast doubt on points made in the reading.

The lecture refuted the points illustrated in the text to glorify the reign of the emperor of Rome, Claudius. The text has cited him as one of the most innovative, fair and wise kings of all time. However, the lecturer opposed every point they made in the text, and shade light of scepticism upon his reign.

In the first place, the reign of Claudius was stated as a fair and the king himself was stated as a wise king. The speaker refutes the notion of a fair and wise king, he said that the Claudius was notorious for his bad judgements. He often produced judgement before listening to the whole point of the argument and in order to entertain people, he executed thousands of men in the Gladiator arena. This examples from the speech seriously question about the wise and fair terms of the king.

According to the professor, although the King has created port and aqueducts in Rome, supporting the kingdom's enhancements, his decision of paying the assassins of the previous king paved the path of long-disputed civil war of Rome. His own wife wanted to kill him off by poisoning him and his son, the heir of the throne was one of the worst rulers of the kingdom.

The speaker and the topic both depicted that most of the praise of Claudius was because the writers are loyal to the king and from senatorial class. Most of the praise was heaped unnecessarily. And to refute his sense of wisdom, his slaves and former slaves, who were positioned in Senate, were notoriously corrupt (in bribery charges), even some of them had a history of murderous intent.

In conclusion, the topic has mentioned the noteworthy development of the Roman emperor at the time of King Claudius. The speaker didn't deny about the development but raised a couple of opposing points, which seriously cast doubt on the so call innovative and fair reign of Claudius.
