TPO 17 Integrated

The professor explains three arguments opposing the points stated in the reading passage about reasons of decrease in birds' population in United States and proposed alternative explanations to support her idea.

First, the professor argues that although it seems that the number of bird's natural habitats is decreasing, thus, the number of birds' population will decline too, spreading human settlements can make an opportunity to other bird species that successfully adapted with this new condition. As she states, many people are nowadays complain about increasing number of birds like pigeon, sea birds, and even hawks. So, expansion in human settlements can destroy habitat of some birds, however, other birds' population is growing.

Second, it is mentioned in the article that agricultural activities may have harmful impact on bird's population due to the fact that humans are destructing wild environment in order to preparing land for agriculture. On the contrary, the professor draws attention to the fact that people are aware about this issue and they use Eco-friendly agriculture methods which emphasize more on efficiency of crops Therefore, there is no need to destroy more land for agriculture.

Third and last, the reading passage asserts that pesticides, which are widely use to kill agricultural and home garden pests, may have inevitable effect on environment by decreasing rate of bird's productivity and being killed through eating poisoned and contaminated insects and pests. Nevertheless, the professor disproves the idea due to the fact that people use pest resisted crops as well as new and much less toxic pesticides to minimize harmful impact of toxic drugs on birds.
