TPO-45

The reading provides three hypotheses to buttress the idea that some special kind of insects called Did bees have existed 200 million years ago since a nest similar to those of Did bees have been found in an old tree in Arizona. However, finding all the theories dubious and implausible, the lecturer refutes them all by specific details.
First, the reading passage asserts that the nest dates to about 200 million years ago, nevertheless since the first fossilized bee returns to just 100 million years ago, these claim makes no sense. In contrast, the speaker underlines the fact that the there is no trace of bees' fossils before that for lack of sticky liquids have been provided of trees to capture the bees and make fossils of them. In other words, since the trees were rare those years, the resins which have been produced of the trees were rare as well.
Furthermore, the author holds the view that the absence of flowering plants, those which bees are tightly associated with, is the other convincing reason to show that Did bees were not as old as skeptics imagine. On the contrary, the woman dismisses this idea by explaining that these specific species might have fed on non-flowing plants, then after the advent of flowering plants, they have changed their food too.
Finally, the reading mentions that although the discovered nest structure resembles nest chambers have been made by modern bees, some differences have been observed, an example of which is lack of spiritual-shaped caps, so that the nest might have been produced by other insects. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that the structure of both modern and fossilized nests contain bee-made chemical substances utilized to make the nest waterproof.
