TPO 51- strange behaviors of elephants

Recently, there has been a lot of debate on animal's behavior patterns. More specifically, in regard to the passage, the author puts forth the idea that elephant behavior is surprising to some extent. The speaker in the listening passage, however, stands in firm opposition to this claim. In fact, he explains that there are some serious flaws in the claim of the writer. he addresses, and explains in detail, the trouble with each of the claims made in the reading text.

First, the author states that elephants can sense their death as they seem to break away from their herd near the end of their lives. The professor refutes this rationale by stating that with age, it becomes difficult for the elephants to chew hard vegetation as their teeth wear down. As a result, they usually look for soft vegetation available near a water source.

Secondly, one group of experts, represented by the writer, believe that elephants have the artistic ability. But not all the experts from the same field believe the claim is accurate. The professor argues that the trainer generally trains the elephant hitting its ear which is very sensitive. When the elephant is hit by a similar way, it responds in a certain pattern without knowing it.

The author wraps up his argument contending that elephants are feared of mice. Not surprisingly, the speaker takes issue with this rationale by suggesting that mice are generally unknown to elephants. if mice were a known species, the elephants would not mind if they were in the vicinity or not.

In sum, both the professor and writer hold conflicting views about elephant behavior. it is clear that they will have trouble finding common ground on this issue
