Jenny is conducting a research project on cell phone use. The chart shows the percentage of students, and parents of students, at Jenny’s school who owned cell phone over a 14 year period. The table provides the cell phone ownership rate nationwide over the same timeframe.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

In general, overall gap between two lines representing percentage of cellphones owned by parents and their children respectively gradually diminishes. From 2012 - 2016 gap experiences a sharp reduction which earlier remained approximately constant from year 2006 - 2012. However only time period when gap widened was from year 2004 - 2006.

As the percentage of cellphone users nationwide increased, total percentage of student and parents also increased. Year 2016 experienced largest boom in cellphone usage with 96% of nation's population using cellphone and approximately 80% and 75% of parents and children owning a cellphone respectively. This shows that approximately equal number of parents and children owned cellphone in 2016 which appear large contrast from year 2002 when 60 % of nation owned cellphone and out of that parents of children studying at jenny's school who owned cellphone was about 50% but the percentage of student who owned a phone was very low - nearly 5%.

Another period that showed widening of gap was 2004-2006 at which, in 2004 approx 50% of parents owned cellphone and 10% of student owned it.
