TPO-52. Integrated Writing Task. Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific points made in the reading passage.

The main idea of both the passage and the talk is about the possibility of asteroids colonization. In the text, the author presents three reasons that the asteroids would be actually the best colonization option. The lecturer challenges all the arguments mentioned in the passage and believes that none of these ideas is practical.

Firstly, the author states that asteroids have lower gravity than Moon or Mars since they are smaller than planets. Therefore, the landing and taking off are very easier than other planets. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that although low gravity is very important to landing and take off , it has certain risks for astronomers such as losing muscles mass or negatively effect on their bones.

Moreover, the author asserts that there are some valuable elements and precious metals which are very rare on Earth such as gold and platinum. Thus, these valuable metals could support projects. The speaker, on the contrary, points out that there are some issues that should be considered about the precious metals. First, it is very challenging and expensive process to transfer the mentioned metals to Earth, so they will lose some of their profits. Second, if these metals will be transferred to Earth, the price of these elements will reduce because of more supply.

Eventually, the reading passage holds the opinion that reaching to asteroids is easier than Moons since they sometimes are very close to Earth. The lecture, on the other hand, posits that although asteroids are close to Earth, they are far away from Earth in most of the times such as Mars. Therefore, it is very difficult to come back to Earth, and it may takes a great deal of time.
