Imagine that you are in a classroom or a meeting. The teacher or the meeting leader says something incorrect. In your opinion, which of the following is the best thing to do? 1. Interrupt and correct the mistake right away; 2. Wait until the class or meeting is over and the people are gone, and then talk to the teacher or meeting leader; 3. Say nothing.

when hearing the lecturer standing on the stage is saying something wrong, we have several ways to reply it, including interrupt the speaker immediately, or wait until the meeting is over and talk to the lecturer directly, or even do nothing at all. Each choice seems plausible, however, for my perspective, I prefer to contact with organizer after the meeting finished, and the reasons are as below.

First and foremost, lecture and speaking has their own regulation and time schedule, and the organizer has already designed it in a precise way, like how much time do the speaker finish the speech, which part serves as rest, when could audiences ask questions, etc. if we interrupt the speaker without any permission, we probably disturb the regular process of lecture, and if this action consumes too much time, then the organizers needs to adjust the following parts immediately. Although our purposes are out of honesty or rigorousness, it imposes a negative effect on the activity and even ruins the whole.

Furthermore, when the meeting is over, we have more time to discuss with the speaker without limited time and questions. knowing that our conclusion may not be right or a simple misunderstanding either, it will be a efficient way to exchange the viewpoints with lecturer and draw a conclusion in a comprehensive way. For instances, once I attended a meeting at the school lecture hall, the speaker mentioned a concept of literary analysis, taught by our teacher few weeks ago, and gave a different explanation which sounds incorrect to me. however, I didn’t ask him at once until the meeting is completely over. when I encounter him at backstage, I conveyed my puzzle and he told me that it is a dichotomous problem and both interpretations are all proper. Since then, I recognize that the system of literary analysis is quite complex, and become more cautious before ask questions.

Although some people believes that asking the perplex points directly is beneficial to the learning progress of students, because they can receive positive feedback and adjust their cognition immediately, it is hard to say that these good results would also happens to speakers and other audiences. For the speakers, they might feel offence and irritate by interruption, and other audiences probably knows the answer and think it is a waste of time. As a result, it is better for us to convey our confusion face to face or at the rest part of speech.

In a nutshell, correcting the mistake is definitely necessary for our studying, but we should consider which methods should we choose to express at the same time. So, it seems plausible that talking to the speaker after meeting.
